Who Are We?
Scaftec Ltd. international scaffold design consultants were established in 1995, and have grown steadily to incorporate over 130 years of experience in the scaffolding / civil engineering industry.

Scaftec provide a range of professional scaffold design services tailored to the specific needs of a broad client base with the focus being on scaffold design. The Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations (2007), and Working at Height regulations (2005) have increased the requirement for scaffold design drawings and calculations as well as risk assessments and method statements for inclusion in site Health & Safety files:

“Unless a scaffold is a basic configuration described in recognised guidance e.g. NASC Technical Guidance TG20 for tube and fitting scaffolds or manufacturers' guidance for system scaffolds, the scaffold should be designed by calculation, by a competent person, to ensure it will have adequate strength and stability”
- Health & Safety Executive Scaffold Checklist

Scaftec were the first scaffold design company to become members of the National Access & Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) and remain NASC information members

Bill Ferguson has been a recent member of the NASC technical committee.

What Do We Do?
All Scaftec Scaffold Design Packages are produced in accordance with relevant codes of practice and regulations. Dependent upon the requirements of each project, the design package will include:
Scaffold design drawings (large scale paper copies + PDF or AutoCAD .dwg copies issued by email)
Scaffold design calculations (paper copies + PDF copies by email)
Design risk assessments – in accordance with designers’ responsibilities under CDM regulations (2007) hazards are identified and, where possible, eradicated during design. Residual hazards identified on all design drawings, with full risk assessments issued where required
Certification – e.g. Form C Certificates for Network Rail projects; Clause 8A for local authorities
Expert Witness – scaffold collapse investigations

Where Do We Come In?
Scaftec can be brought in at any stage of a project, from conception to completion. We are happy to discuss any requirements you may have, and advice is free!

Tender Costing – verbal advice on budget design fee allowances for project tendering
Conception / Planning – guidance on feasibility of aspects of work and impact on other areas; preliminary drawings / sketches can be produced to aid in pricing / planning
Construction / Ongoing Projects – bespoke engineering solutions provided as a project progresses and requirements change, liaising with clients & main contractors and visiting sites to inspect scaffolds where required and discuss future designs
Existing Scaffolds – inspections to check suitability, with recommendations made where necessary, backed-up by scaffold design drawings and calculations
